AltLayer, Astar Network, and EigenLayer have teamed up to reduce finality times to under 10 seconds on Soneium. Soneium currently uses Ethereum’s fraud-proof mechanism, which requires a latency of nearly fifteen minutes for L1 settlement. The latest development, therefore, aims to deliver significant finality speed. Despite its security, the aforementioned latency has become a hindrance for applications that require reliable and fast cross-chain transactions. Use cases related to gaming, social platforms, and decentralized finance (DeFi) are particularly sensitive to this type of latency. It can hinder real-time interactions and also become a major hindrance for consumers. To address this issue, Astar Network has integrated with AltLayer’s Modular Asynchronous Consensus Hybir technology. Its integration with the leading restaking infrastructure EigenLayer offers Fast Finality Layer, allowing Soneium to verify transfers in real-time. AltLayer’s MACH solution provides a suite of cutting-edge improvements that enhance speed, security, and decentralization, expanding the capabilities of L2 networks. To provide enhanced security, a dual-token model with $ASTR and $ETH will be used. Validators will secure the network using both tokens. This will open up exclusive staking opportunities.
