The US Department of Justice has conducted a comprehensive operation against BidenCash, an illegal marketplace operating on the dark web. US Seizes Crypto Funds and 145 Domains Belonging to BidenCash According to the statement, the Virginia Eastern District Attorney's Office announced that 145 dark web and traditional internet domain names were seized with cryptocurrency funds linked to BidenCash. “The United States has ordered the seizure of crypto funds used by the BidenCash marketplace to collect revenues from illegal sales,” the prosecutor's office said in a press release. While the amount and type of crypto funds were not disclosed, the Justice Department alleged that BidenCash had operated since March 2022, providing services to more than 117,000 customers and generating over $17 million in revenue by trading more than 15 million stolen payment cards and personal data. Authorities also noted that between October 2022 and February 2023, BidenCash released 3.3 million stolen credit card details for free for promotional purposes. The leaked information included card numbers, expiration dates, CVV codes, and personal information such as name, address, email, and phone. BidenCash also allegedly sold stolen credentials that provided illegal computer access. Following the operation, all domain names belonging to BidenCash were disabled. Users trying to access these addresses are now directed to servers controlled by US law enforcement, preventing further illegal activities. The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Secret Service's Frankfurt Resident Office and Cyber Investigation Section, and the FBI's Albuquerque Office, with support from the Dutch National High Tech Crime Unit, the Shadowserver Foundation and Searchlight Cyber. The operation is part of a broader U.S. crackdown on cryptocurrency-related cybercrime. Last month, U.S. authorities seized five internet domains linked to a malware tool called LummaC2 that stole crypto wallet information for millions of people around the world. *This is not investment advice.
