Expert Says Bitcoin Won’t Even 2x From Here and Altcoins Are Where the Real Gains Are

An experienced market analyst has encouraged a shift from Bitcoin to altcoins, arguing that the real profit would come from there. Whales are buying Bitcoin in no small way. Prominent market analyst Ali Martinez confirmed that some of the biggest whales on the network acquired over 30,000 BTC in the past 96 hours. The optimism surrounding the pioneering cryptocurrency stems from growing speculation that it has more room for expansion before the end of this cycle. Some predict $200,000 by the end of the year, while others project $500,000 to $1 million by the end of the cycle. Nonetheless, Crypto Beast, an experienced crypto market trader, is one of the few to advocate for dumping Bitcoin for altcoins at this time. While the FOMO around Bitcoin intensifies, he has dropped a reality check on the asset’s further upward trajectory for the rest of the bull cycle. Bitcoin Won’t 2x, Altcoins Will: Analyst Crypto Beast shared in his June 3 X post that he no longer holds Bitcoin. The largest cryptocurrency by market cap rallied 121% last year, up nearly 13% so far this year. With Bitcoin having claimed a new all-time high around $112,000 in May, the analyst feels the top for the asset is closer than most think. He highlighted that he has taken full profit from his earlier Bitcoin stash because he knows what’s coming. Citing his experience in past cycles, he insisted that the crypto leader would not increase twofold from its current price level. Meanwhile, he urged a diversion to a more lucrative sector: the altcoin market. He described exposure to altcoins at this point as “where the real gains are,” insisting it would outperform any gains that holding Bitcoin would offer at this stage in the bull cycle. While he did not specifically mention any altcoin, he emphasized that almost any would suffice. According to him, those who would hold on to their Bitcoin stash and neglect his call for altcoin diversification would wish they paid more attention one day. Furthermore, he attached a chart showing that the Bitcoin dominance is nearing its top. It highlighted that, as in the last bull cycle, the metric is approaching its “actual top,” a resistance level where it starts to dump. He also called attention to a bearish divergence involving the RSI, which suggests an imminent drop in Bitcoin dominance looms. Bitcoin Dominance Analysis/Crypto Beast Bitcoin’s market cap dominance has been trading within an ascending channel since its bottom in 2023, taking Bitcoin’s price with it to the detriment of altcoins. Crypto Beast’s analysis suggested that the top is near, and the dominance breakdown will send the altcoin market cap higher. Bitcoin’s Performance vs. Altcoins In truth, Bitcoin has been the standout caliber digital asset so far this cycle, raising speculations that it could be a “Bitcoin-only” bull market. Institutional adoption and the giant strides of the US Bitcoin spot ETFs have ensured that Bitcoin broke its 2021 peak price before the April 2024 halving event for the first time ever and have continued to set record highs even above $100,000. In contrast, most altcoins have struggled to match Bitcoin’s feat. Only a handful of them have reached new all-time highs during this bull cycle, with some trading significantly off their peak price. For instance, altcoin leader Ethereum is down 46% from its all-time high (ATH) of $4,891, XRP trades 41.84% away from its seven-year high of $3.84, and Dogecoin and Shiba Inu are down 73.47% and 85.2% from their respective ATHs. Remarkably, history suggests there is a phase in the bull cycle, widely known as the “altcoin season” or “altseason,” when alternative coins start to outperform Bitcoin. It is in view of this and the altcoins’ current trend far below their peak prices that Crypto Beast, like others, is encouraging exposure to these coins now. Analyst Mikybull Crypto also shares the same sentiment. In a tweet today, he stated that the altseason is brewing and many would miss the train when the rally fully kicks in. Meanwhile, as seen in the past, altcoin leader Ethereum would have to resume a bullish uptrend to set the stage for others to follow.
