A first-of-its-kind move came as Bitcoin (BTC) accumulation continued under the leadership of institutional bull MicroStrategy. Accordingly, French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) added Bitcoin to its balance sheet. With this move, PSG became the first sports club to invest in Bitcoin. Speaking at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference in Las Vegas, PSG Labs President Par Helgosson said that his club started buying Bitcoin last year and still holds these BTCs. “We bought Bitcoin with our cash reserves. We still hold our Bitcoins. And as one of the biggest clubs in the world, we are the biggest player in the sports ecosystem buying Bitcoin.” This is not PSG’s first foray into crypto. One of the club’s first blockchain activities was launching a fan token and running a validator node on the Chiliz blockchain. PSG also became the first major football club to launch a fan token on Socios.com. PSG also has multi-year agreements with Crypto.com and Bitpanda as exchange partners. PSG are also the most decorated club in France, having won 54 official trophies, 13 Ligue 1 titles and the UEFA Cup. *This is not investment advice.
