Galaxy Digital raised $460 million to transform its Texas Bitcoin mining facility into a large-scale AI data center. The funding came through a private placement of 12.77 million Class A shares to a major institutional investor. The upgraded Helios site will provide 133 megawatts of computing capacity by early 2026. Partnership With CoreWeaveGalaxy signed a 15-year deal with AI infrastructure provider CoreWeave to supply high-performance computing power. The company expects the partnership to generate close to $1 billion in annual revenue, though that projection remains an internal estimate. Scale and Strategic ShiftAt full build-out, the Helios campus could reach 3.5 gigawatts, placing it among the largest AI-oriented data facilities in North America. The move marks Galaxy’s transition from Bitcoin mining toward diversified computing and energy-intensive AI workloads. Industry ContextCrypto miners are increasingly redirecting hardware and power infrastructure toward artificial-intelligence services as hash-rate competition and electricity costs rise. Galaxy’s pivot reflects that broader shift from pure crypto mining to high-performance digital infrastructure.
