WETH (Wrapped Ethereum) was introduced in 2017 by the 0x project team to improve interoperability among DEXs and dApps on the Ethereum network. It simplifies the trading and integration of ETH by standardizing it across different platforms. WETH is pivotal in the DeFi sector, being the primary trading pair on several DEXs and supporting numerous DeFi protocols and applications. The 0x project team, recognizing the need for a more interoperable and standardized system, created WETH to address these challenges
