Physical Bitcoin Collectibles Satori Coins to Return With Premium ‘Gi’ Model

Satori Coins, a line of physical bitcoin collectibles first issued in 2016, is returning with a new premium model on Sept. 25, 2025, alongside charity auctions of early serial numbers that started today on Scarce.city. Satori Coins Back After Hiatus Satori Coins first appeared as low-cost, “poker chip”-style tokens preloaded with tiny fractions of bitcoin. After Casascius coins—created by Mike Caldwell from 2011 to 2013—faded out, tangible bitcoins became a rarity. In 2016, Satori Coins entered the scene but soon hit pause. Nearly a decade later, the project is back and set to launch again this year. On Aug. 27, 2025, the project’s X account wrote: “We’re happy to finally announce the public launch of Satori Coin Gi on September 25th! You’ll be able to safely and securely order our latest model: Satori Coin Gi, from our online shop. Crafted with machined aluminum, glass, and intricately designed foil and tamper-evident hologram seals, you’ll be holding bitcoin in a secure piece of art.” The flagship Satori Coin Gi emphasizes Japanese craftsmanship. The aluminum-bodied piece uses a screw-top design to access the private key and incorporates three holograms, including one on the edge. The body pattern was created by Ise Katagami craftsman Hajime Ito. Security employs a 2-of-2 multisignature scheme. Ahead of general sales, low serial numbers #0001–#0010 of the Gi are being auctioned on Scarce.city from Sept. 9, 2025, at 3 p.m. Eastern to Sept. 11, 2025 at 3 p.m. Eastern. Each auctioned coin is pre-loaded with 0.01 bitcoin, and proceeds go to five nonprofits. Serial #0001 is a standalone sale. The maximum mintage for the Gi is 3,000 pieces. A companion model, the Satori Coin Chi, is planned as a lower-cost option akin to the 2016 chips. Pricing for general sales has not been published. The Chi is expected to target entry-level gifting and education, echoing the original goal of accessible, hands-on bitcoin introductions globally. The team frames the new issues as collectibles and gifts that also introduce self-custody. The revival of Satori Coins reflects growing interest in physical bitcoin artistry, blending tradition, security, and utility. Whether pursued as collectibles or educational tools, these designs highlight an enduring desire to connect digital value with tangible, numismatic BTC expression.
