US President Donald Trump, who directs the Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrency markets with his statements and moves, made new statements. The US-China trade tension, which has been the focus of the crypto market for months, has eased after talks over the weekend reached an agreement to keep tariffs at low rates for 90 days. However, as the two sides shook hands on the long-awaited trade deal, President Donald Trump's post caused chaos once again. Trump also mentioned cryptocurrencies in his statements while visiting Qatar as part of his Middle East visit. Reiterating his support for cryptocurrencies once again, Trump said that the US is ahead in crypto and is leading China. “I am a big supporter of cryptocurrencies. We lead China in crypto. We are ahead of China.” Trump recently underlined that his goal is to be a leader in crypto, and warned that China could lead the way in crypto if the US falls behind. Trump said, “I want crypto. I think crypto is important because if we don't do it, China will. And they will be ahead. Crypto is new and very popular.” As you may recall, after months of tension, the US and China have agreed to reduce business. Accordingly, the Chinese administration will reduce the customs duty on US-origin products from 125% to 10% for 90 days. In return, the US will reduce the 145% duty it applies to China to 30%. *This is not investment advice.
