XRP Code Shows ISO 20022 Compliance

Ripple’s internal code has resurfaced in public discussion after researcher “SMQKE” published new findings linking XRP to the ISO 20022 standard. The XRP community was quick to seize on the screenshots as supposed evidence of Ripple’s ongoing adaptation to global interbank protocols. SMQKE posted a screenshot from the RippleNet codebase, in which the “External Clearing System” field references the “ISO 20022 External Clearing System Identification Code List.” This is cited as evidence that Ripple’s architecture is designed to support ISO 20022 message formats. XRP proponents argue that this alignment means future technical and regulatory compatibility with global interbank protocols. In an earlier statement, Marcus Treacher, former global head of strategic accounts at Ripple, confirmed that RippleNet was designed with interoperability and financial messaging in mind. Treacher emphasized that Ripple’s goal has always been to reduce friction in cross-border payments, and the ISO 20022 format provides the necessary framework to achieve this.
